The majority held that the family registry is an administrative and technical record, and that transferring a woman's record does not have a direct and decisive effect on her legal status or concrete interests. Five members dissented, four of them writing that the rule positions women not as independent legal individuals but as records subordinate to their male spouses.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said the airport handled 289,732 passengers on Aug. 9, the highest daily total recorded at any airport in Türkiye or Europe. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt will raise the federal police anti-drone unit to 300 personnel and take its operational bases from four to eight, days after an explosives-laden drone was found near a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig-Halle. Dobrindt called the incident a hybrid attack scenario potentially involving a foreign power. The airport is a hub for German and NATO military transport and a base for Ukraine's cargo carrier Antonov Airlines.
In his nightly address on Monday the Ukrainian president said Russia was preparing to deploy an additional North Korean contingent on its own territory and had received more ballistic missiles from Pyongyang. At the weekend he said a decision had been taken for 30,000 to 50,000 North Koreans to be deployed. He presented no evidence or timeframe for either claim.
Iran has set conditions for fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz, among them a permanent end to the war, an end to the US blockade and sanctions, the release of frozen assets and compensation for war damage. Trump responded on Monday by demanding compensation from Iran instead, saying he had instructed his representatives to seek it for people killed and gravely wounded by Iranian roadside bombs. On Aug. 4 he had said a deal could happen within a day or two.

The quake struck the Pacific department of Chocó at 7:34 a.m. local time on Monday. The US Geological Survey put the epicentre five kilometres east of San José del Palmar at a depth of 107 kilometres. The prime minister told the news agency TT that it is "a bit unclear" whether the temporary cuts to fuel tax and food VAT will continue, and that the decision rests on developments in the Middle East and on the price picture. Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson stressed that the European Commission's approval is temporary, but did not rule out keeping food VAT low. Food VAT was cut from 12 to 6 percent on 1 April, a decision that runs to the end of 2027.
More than 130 teenage children of foreign workers were ordered to leave Sweden without their parents last year, on an analysis of 539 permit decisions obtained under freedom of information rules. That is more than the 92 cases Aftonbladet identified in March, because the Migration Agency handles the dependants of work and study permit holders as work cases rather than as family reunion ones. Parliament is due to vote on a family reunion bill containing the government's answer to the problem.
