Kristersson has not decided whether to extend the crisis tax cuts

The prime minister told the news agency TT that it is "a bit unclear" whether the temporary cuts to fuel tax and food VAT will continue, and that the decision rests on developments in the Middle East and on the price picture. Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson stressed that the European Commission's approval is temporary, but did not rule out keeping food VAT low. Food VAT was cut from 12 to 6 percent on 1 April, a decision that runs to the end of 2027.
