Sweden's government presents its first national strategy for psychological defence

The government adopted a strategy for psychological defence on Tuesday, the first national strategic approach of its kind, built on four pillars and two overarching goals. Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin said states and state-like actors are systematically trying to weaken trust in Swedish society, and the strategy highlights new technology such as AI tools, clearer integration into total defence and closer cooperation between agencies. Assignments went at the same time to the Psychological Defence Agency, the Agency for Civil Defence, the Armed Forces and the Defence Conscription and Assessment Agency, ahead of the general election on 13 September.
