Left Party accuses Centre Party of blocking government formation ahead of next week

With the left-wing bloc (Social Democrats, Left, Greens, Centre) holding 176 seats against the right-wing bloc's 173 after the final count, Left Party deputy leader Ida Gabrielsson criticised the Centre Party on Thursday for obstructing government formation, saying it should take responsibility for forming a government rather than blocking the Left's participation. The new parliament convenes on 28 September to elect a speaker, who could propose a prime ministerial candidate for a vote as early as the next day; Magdalena Andersson has yet to reconcile the Left Party's demand for inclusion with the Centre Party's demand to keep it out.
