Sweden Democrats drop cabinet demand, Centre Party holds firm against Kristersson
Sweden's two-month government deadlock showed its first movement in weeks: the Sweden Democrats dropped their demand for cabinet posts and said they would instead let Ulf Kristersson become prime minister by abstaining in a vote. Speaker Andreas Norlén has given Kristersson until 10 November to report whether he can form a government. The Centre Party, whose votes a Kristersson government would likely need, kept its refusal in place: asked whether there is any mechanism under which it could support a government that relies on the Sweden Democrats, its finance spokesperson Martin Ådahl told The Local, "There is no such mechanism and it will not happen."
