Trump brushes aside Netanyahu's opposition to a possible F-35 sale to Türkiye

Aboard Air Force One on Monday, the day before he hosted Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Donald Trump said no outsider decides what the United States sells, dismissing Israel's objections to an F-35 sale to Türkiye. Türkiye was removed from the programme in 2019 after buying the Russian S-400 air defence system, and Washington sanctioned its defence procurement agency under CAATSA. Ankara says it invested about 1.4 billion dollars before its removal and wants back in, while Netanyahu says he raised his opposition directly with Trump, citing Israel's qualitative military edge.
