Türkiye rejects EU's 2026 progress report as "biased"

Türkiye's foreign ministry on Wednesday rejected the European Commission's annual report on its EU candidacy as "unfounded" and "biased" on the judiciary and fundamental rights, accusing Brussels of a double standard. The ministry said the EU "could not contribute meaningfully" to resolving the Cyprus dispute while backing the Greek Cypriot side unconditionally, and urged the bloc to move past "narrow political calculations" in its dealings with Ankara.
