Iran and Oman trade proposals on how the Strait of Hormuz should be run

Oman has put forward a joint regional mechanism for the strait based on voluntary fees, modelled on the Strait of Malacca, under which Iran would not hold sole control; the account comes via Reuters from a Gulf source and a Western diplomat. Iran's deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, told Iranian state media on Tuesday that Tehran rejects an equal division of the transit lanes, has no plans to negotiate with the United States, and will consider any measure to keep control, including a resumption of the war. The strait carried a fifth of global energy supplies before the US-Israeli war on Iran began on 28 February.
