CHP mayor of İzmir's Menderes district detained as opposition crackdown widens

Menderes Mayor İlkay Çiçek and twelve others were detained on August 4 in early-morning raids in İzmir on allegations including bribery, misconduct and membership of a criminal organization. Erdoğan chairs Supreme Military Council; air force gets new commander in annual reshuffle

The Supreme Military Council (YAŞ), chaired by President Erdoğan on August 4, appointed Gen. EU channels 1.4 billion euros in frozen Russian asset profits to Ukraine

Russian barrage kills 17 in Kyiv region as Ukraine's air defences fall short

Italy suspends free movement with Spain as Ceuta crisis strains Schengen

Lebanon and Israel remain split over Hezbollah disarmament at Rome talks
