Erdoğan chairs Supreme Military Council; air force gets new commander in annual reshuffle
The Supreme Military Council (YAŞ), chaired by President Erdoğan on August 4, appointed Gen. Rafet Dalkıran as air force commander following Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu's retirement, and promoted 25 generals and admirals plus 69 colonels, while extending the terms of several other top commanders. The decisions, effective August 30, set the command structure of NATO's second-largest army for the year ahead.
