Sweden's election authority says it is ready for a snap election if talks keep failing
More than six weeks after September's election, and with one of four possible prime-ministerial votes already defeated, Sweden's Election Authority says it is ready to run a snap election “whenever necessary”, though its director-general Anna Nyqvist warned it would be “an extremely short time to run an election under the Swedish process”. A snap election becomes mandatory if the Riksdag rejects a prime ministerial candidate four times, and must then be held within three months of the parliamentary Speaker's decision.
