Prosecutors seek up to 217 years for jailed Bolu mayor

Turkish prosecutors submitted their final opinion on 26 September in the case against Bolu mayor Tanju Özcan, seeking between 69 and 217 years on charges of extortion, bribery and fraud involving local businesses and a charity. Özcan has been jailed pending trial since March and left the CHP in June after a court fight over the party's leadership; the next hearing is set for 19 October.
