Fidan warns Greek island militarization is a threat to Türkiye

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned, during a visit to Azerbaijan, that Greece's military build-up on islands that Ankara says carry demilitarized status under international treaties poses a threat to Türkiye. His remarks followed Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's tour of Kastellorizo and nearby islets on 11-13 September, where he inspected military outposts; Türkiye responded by moving its 51st Commando Brigade to a position across from the Greek island of Samos.
