Iran expands restricted maritime zone beyond Hormuz after it says it struck vessels

Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced a new “prohibited zone” stretching from Chabahar into parts of the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea, warning ships that enter without coordinating with Tehran will be denied insurance and future Hormuz transit. The announcement came a day after Iranian forces said they struck ten vessels attempting to cross the strait without authorisation, part of a conflict with the United States that has run since February. Exact coordinates of the new zone have not yet been published.
