The Social Democrats would scrap the bulk discount on sentences, starting with sexual offences
The party's justice policy spokesperson, Teresa Carvalho, told a press conference on Friday that the Social Democrats want to abolish the bulk discount on sentences, starting with sexual offences during the next parliamentary term. The announcement followed a pledge by the Tido parties to scrap the discount in the coming term, a bill the red-green side says it will reject in full, while the Moderates want it removed for all offences by 2030. The prison service has said there will not be enough places for longer sentences until 2040 at the earliest.
