Erdoğan in Jeddah as Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are expected to sign a defence pact

Two sources close to the Saudi military and government told AFP that the three countries will sign a joint defence agreement in Jeddah today. Erdoğan is meeting Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived on Thursday with military chief Asim Munir. Neither Ankara nor Islamabad has confirmed an accord, and Türkiye's Communications Directorate describes the trip only as a one-day working visit. If signed, it would widen the Saudi-Pakistani defence agreement, under which an attack on one is treated as an attack on both, into a three-way framework including Türkiye.
