Trump calls off the attack on Iran, saying the perimeters of a deal are agreed

In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Donald Trump said he was calling off the planned attack on Iran after Tehran and a number of unnamed Middle Eastern countries asked for a postponement and the perimeters of a deal were agreed; the deal, as he set it out, covers the immediate and complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to Iran's nuclear threat. He added that US forces remain locked and loaded and ready to go, and that Israel joins him in the commitment. Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency later reported that Iranian military officials rejected the claim that Tehran had asked for a halt, calling it a new lie meant to blackmail Persian Gulf rulers, and said their forces were at the highest level of readiness.
