
The July survey by Ank-Ar, reported by the Birgün daily on Tuesday, puts the New Party on 34.8 percent against the AKP's 29.4. Only the pro-Kurdish DEM Party also clears the 7 percent threshold, on 7.6 percent, while the CHP falls to 4 percent. Ank-Ar interviewed 2,004 people face to face in 28 provinces, less than three weeks after Özel and 90 other deputies left the CHP.

The Istanbul chief prosecutor's office suspects visa consultancies of using bot software to seize consulate appointment slots in bulk and resell them. The tax inspection board found more than 2.84 billion lira moving through the companies' accounts between January 2024 and July 2026, of which about 918 million was collected from more than 41,000 people. Gendarmerie teams raided 63 addresses across six provinces on Tuesday.

Communications director Burhanettin Duran said on Tuesday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had arrived in Ankara that day for a three-day official visit at Erdoğan's invitation. The two meet on Wednesday to review the situation in Palestine, bilateral relations and the region. Abbas last addressed the Turkish parliament at an extraordinary session in August 2024.
