Libya's parliament ratifies 2019 maritime deal with Türkiye, reversing its own rejection

Libya's House of Representatives voted unanimously on Tuesday to ratify the 2019 maritime memorandum with Türkiye, which sets out exclusive economic zone boundaries in the Eastern Mediterranean. The same chamber had declared the deal void in 2020 and cut political ties with Ankara; both resolutions were repealed in the same vote. The reversal strengthens the legal basis Türkiye cites for its claims in waters also claimed by Greece and Cyprus.
