Sweden's speaker will wait until Monday to name who gets the next shot at forming a government

Since the Riksdag rejected Magdalena Andersson as prime minister on 15 October, speaker Andreas Norlén has skipped a new formal round of party talks and instead phoned party leaders individually to speed up the process. He will announce on Monday 19 October at 13:30 who gets the next exploratory mandate, Ulf Kristersson or another attempt by Andersson. The Social Democrats, the Centre Party and the Greens want Kristersson tried first even though he lacks a majority, a sign the red-green bloc wants to buy time for its own negotiations.
