Sweden's parliament to vote Thursday on Andersson as PM, defeat expected

Social Democrat leader Magdalena Andersson told Speaker Andreas Norlén she has failed to form a government with the other three left-bloc parties a month after the September 13 election, after the Centre Party refused to accept the Left Party in cabinet and the Left Party in turn will only support a government it belongs to. Norlén is nonetheless proceeding with a floor vote at noon Thursday, though Andersson is expected to lose it; if she does, he will reassess who to propose next; Norlén himself calls outgoing PM Ulf Kristersson a natural, if not certain, choice.
