Four-party meeting on 9 October to test whether an Andersson government is possible

The Centre Party, Social Democrats, Left Party and Greens meet on Friday, 9 October, to test whether they can agree on a government under Magdalena Andersson, after the speaker gave her a new mandate to explore coalition options. It marks a reversal for the Centre Party, which refused in September to even sit down for four-party talks with the Left; leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist now says the parties want to 'test every possible avenue', while the Left Party's Ida Gabrielsson called for compromise on policy rather than drawing hard lines. Social Democrat Anders Ygeman stressed that no cabinet posts will be handed out on television and that the process is only just beginning.
