Record 15,000 appeals filed against Sweden's election result

More than 15,000 formal appeals against the 13 September general election had reached Sweden's Election Review Board by Monday, driven largely by online activism, far above the roughly 700 filed after 2018 and 400 after 2022. Many appeals are reportedly too vague, such as simply alleging fraud, to trigger an investigation. The surge runs alongside separate criminal fraud investigations in Stockholm and Borlänge, where a Left Party candidate's unexpected vote surge remains under scrutiny with no suspects named.
