Russia sets conditions for Türkiye to pass on its S-400 systems

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on 27 September that any country receiving Türkiye's Russian-made S-400 air defence systems must maintain friendly ties with Moscow and guarantee the systems are not passed on again. Türkiye bought the S-400s in 2019, a deal that cost it a place in the US F-35 fighter jet programme, and speculation about a resale has grown since President Trump signalled Ankara could rejoin that programme.
