Sweden's Left Party fraud probe threatens fragile government talks

Police and prosecutors are investigating several fraud complaints over the September 13 vote, centred on Left Party MP-elect Mohamed Abdukardir Ali, who unexpectedly leapfrogged other candidates after reports of pre-marked ballots. Ali has taken leave while the case is investigated. A confirmed fraud finding could force a re-run in one constituency, putting up to 11 seats back in play just as the centre-left tries to turn its one-seat majority into a government.
