Turkish, Iraqi and Kurdish security officials meet daily in Erbil to plan PKK disarmament

Security officials from Türkiye's MIT, Iraq's national security service and the Kurdistan Region's security council are holding daily talks in Erbil on a plan for roughly 4,200 PKK members to lay down weapons and leave 18 positions in northern Iraq. Parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said a day earlier that handover to Iraq's central government would begin in October; the Erbil talks suggest both that timetable and who will actually receive the weapons are still unsettled, and a Kurdish politician involved says handover could begin within days and take about a month.
