The Tidö parties set up a waste commission
Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson on Friday presented a new inquiry that the government and the Sweden Democrats are calling a waste commission. It is to work systematically through state spending and judge what the state should be doing more of and less of, and the stated motive is to fund higher defence spending without raising more tax than necessary. Åke Nordlander, director general of the Swedish Export Credits Guarantee Board, will lead it, reporting in part by 12 March 2027 and in full by 21 January 2028, well after the election.
