Europe's grid operators prepare for the eclipse to take 9.7 GW of solar off the system

The industry body ENTSO-E says photovoltaic output could fall by up to 9.7 gigawatts across Europe between 19:15 and 21:30 CEST on 12 August under clear skies. It describes the change as rapid but predictable, and a task force has been activated to coordinate preparations and share information before and after the eclipse. The largest reductions are expected in Spain, where the eclipse is total, and in Germany.
