Ankara says Greece's new Aegean tourism plan has no legal effect

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli said Greece's new spatial planning framework for tourism covers areas of the Aegean, and geographical formations whose sovereignty Ankara says was never ceded to Greece under international treaties. He said the plan does not affect Turkiye's established legal position in the interconnected disputes between the two countries. He called on both sides to avoid unilateral measures in closed or semi-enclosed seas such as the Aegean and the Mediterranean.
