Rookie lifeguard, 16, pulls boy from powerful surf in California

Ryder Williams, a 16-year-old rookie lifeguard at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, rescued a 10-year-old boy who had been swept into the ocean by a sudden sneaker wave. Despite several large waves pounding the shore, Williams held on to the boy and, with help from a fellow lifeguard, eventually brought him safely to land. The boy escaped without serious injuries.
