Sweden's caretaker budget drops election promises, keeps defence spending rising

Finance minister Elisabeth Svantesson is preparing a caretaker budget, due November 12, that adds no new spending since Sweden still has no new government after the election. Pledges such as higher child benefits and cheaper preschool fall away, but a previously agreed increase in defence funding, above standard inflation-linked increases, continues.
