Türkiye opens high-speed rail link to the Bulgarian border

President Erdoğan opened a 153-kilometre high-speed section between Çerkezköy and Kapıkule, completing the Halkalı to Kapıkule line that the EU co-financed. The line cuts travel time from the Istanbul area to the border from four hours to ninety minutes and is meant to lift annual freight capacity from 1.5 million to 9.5 million tons.
