US unveils $4 billion defence package for Greece as Rubio calls a Greek-Turkish crisis "unimaginable"

The United States and Greece announced $4 billion in foreign military sales after their sixth Strategic Dialogue in Athens, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis; the package includes roughly $1.2 billion for missiles and precision-guided bombs for Greece's F-16s and incoming F-35s, and $1 billion to upgrade 37 F-16s to the Viper configuration by 2027. Rubio told Kathimerini a Greek-Turkish crisis would be "unimaginable" and bad for both countries and the US, and said Washington would pursue diplomacy to head off a dispute over the Cyprus interconnector cable.
