Türkiye agrees to hand its Iraq base back to Baghdad

Erdoğan and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi agreed in New York that Türkiye will gradually hand over the Bashiqa-Zilkan camp it has held near Mosul since 2015. Iraq pledged tighter security in the area and the removal from Sinjar of armed groups Ankara considers a threat. No handover date has been set yet.
