Türkiye expands probe into Süleymanlılar religious community, 29 more detention warrants

Ankara's chief prosecutor's office issued 29 new detention warrants on Sunday and placed court-appointed trustees over 23 companies, the fourth wave in an investigation into Alihan Kuriş, the jailed leader of the Süleymanlılar religious community, and his circle. Prosecutors allege money laundering, tax offences and an attempt to influence elections through the group's Quran courses, dormitories and businesses; 32 suspects, Kuriş included, were already jailed pending trial in August. The Süleymanlılar have historically kept their distance from Erdoğan's ruling party.
