France to supply Sweden with four frigates in new defence deal

France and Sweden signed an agreement to supply four modern frigates along with a framework deal deepening French-Swedish defence cooperation, a step meant to strengthen the Baltic Sea defences of NATO's newest member. The deal comes as Sweden raises defence spending toward NATO's 3.5%-of-GDP target by 2030, up from the current 2.8%.
