Sweden to help patrol Finland's skies and coasts

Sweden and Finland announced on Friday that they will jointly strengthen surveillance and protection of Finland's territorial integrity, including better detection and interception of drones, in support of NATO's deterrence on the alliance's eastern flank. Sweden will contribute Swedish Air Force JAS 39 Gripen fighters and a Visby-class corvette, freeing Finnish forces to focus on repelling any violations. "By working together, we are strengthening NATO deterrence and defence," said Finland's defence minister Antti Häkkänen; Sweden's Pål Jonson called it part of "constantly developing our ability to act together with our Allies."
