Former SDF commander named advisor to Syria's president

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa appointed Mazloum Abdi, the former commander of the now-dissolved Syrian Democratic Forces, as an adviser to the presidency on Thursday. The move comes three days after Abdi announced the SDF's dissolution and full integration into the Syrian army, a step Ankara has demanded as part of ending Kurdish militant influence along its border.
