Kurdish-led SDF dissolves, folds into Syrian army
The Syrian Democratic Forces announced their dissolution as an armed group on Tuesday, with commander Mazloum Abdi declaring the move from Damascus's presidential palace. SDF fighters are being absorbed into Syrian state security and military structures, a process that also requires non-Syrian PKK figures to leave the country. Türkiye has long pressed for exactly this outcome, arguing that dismantling parallel armed structures is essential to Syria's stability.
