Eighty undocumented migrants reported since the duty to inform took effect

Figures obtained by Svenska Dagbladet from the border police show eighty people with no right of residence have been reported since the duty to inform came into force on 13 July. The law covers six agencies, among them the Public Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, the Enforcement Authority and the Tax Agency, after schools, health care and social services were exempted following public criticism; most reports come from the Public Employment Service. Britta Lejon, who chairs the civil servants' union ST, warns that people will not dare to seek help from the authorities for fear of being reported.
